In anticipation of the upcoming blockbuster Captain America: Civil War, Showtime Marketing took on Apparition Media to construct a mural on our wall in Foveaux St, Surry Hills over the month of April.
Marvel’s campaign centers around the proposition of dividing the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s leviathan fan base into two camps, #TeamCap and #TeamIronMan to generate discussion and hype for the studio’s most recent release. Showtime Marketing’s mural in the heart of Sydney builds on this friction by presenting the heroes of Captain America: Civil War converging one-on-one in a traditional comic book format – harkening to the medium from which the story of the film has been adapted.
The mural, designed by Marvel certified Australian artist David Yardin, has sparked a huge amount of discussion across the world of Australian social media, and been discussed at length in a wide variety of publications including The Sydney Morning Herald, Pedestrian.tv and AdNews.
Captain America: Civil War has been a critical and commercial success domestically and worldwide – earning the current rank of second-highest grossing film in 2016.
